Brewing Process

From grain to glass, crafted with care

Mashing

Premium malted barley is mixed with hot water in our mash tun, converting starches to fermentable sugars. Temperature precision is critical for flavor development.

Boiling

The wort is vigorously boiled while hops are added at precise intervals. This develops bitterness, flavor, and aroma while sterilizing the liquid for fermentation.

Fermenting

Yeast works its magic, converting sugars to alcohol and CO2. Temperature-controlled fermentation over 7-14 days develops the beer's unique character and complexity.

Packaging

After conditioning, beer is carbonated and packaged into kegs, cans, or bottles. Quality control ensures every pour meets our exacting standards for freshness and flavor.

Our Story

From iron to ale

In 2018, I walked into an abandoned ironworks factory and saw more than rusted equipment and peeling paint. I saw possibility. I saw a place where industrial heritage could meet craft brewing tradition.

After years working in breweries across the Pacific Northwest, I returned home with a mission: create bold, uncompromising beers in a space that honored our city's working-class roots. We preserved the original brick, exposed the steel beams, and installed our brewhouse where molten iron once flowed.

Every beer we brew pays homage to the craftspeople who worked these floors before us. Their dedication to quality, their pride in their work, their commitment to building something that lasts - that's what we pour into every pint.

Ironworks Brewing Co. isn't just about great beer. It's about community, authenticity, and the belief that the best things are built with your hands, perfected through repetition, and shared with friends.
